In 2019, Bus Radio and Kilimo Media delivered a month-long farmer education initiative combining radio programmes, on-location interviews and field visits. The work addressed invasive Ipomea weed and sustainable farming practices in the communities served by the station.
The CSR archive records engagement with Osupuko Women Group in Purko ward and a farmer learning visit to Kitui. This approach connected a challenge raised locally with opportunities to learn through conversation and practical observation.
The completed month of education and field engagement brought farmers’ questions, specialist knowledge and peer learning into a shared conversation about sustainable livelihoods.
For future partners, this is a model that can be developed further: local-language information, farmer-led questions, specialist knowledge and field engagement, with outcomes agreed and tracked together.
